Where can I find information about courses?
- You can find the course catalog on the university website.
In the first semester, we recommend the introductory lecture with the corresponding tutorial and the introductory course that takes place every fall semester. In general, it is recommended for first-year students to attend proseminars before attending seminars.
25 CP per semester (total in both subjects and electives) is the average for earning a bachelor's degree in 6 semesters.
What does that mean exactly in the fall semester of 2023?
This fall, the following undergraduate Religious Studies courses will take place:
Course: Introduction to Religious Studies, E. Schaa, Fri 10:15.
Proseminar: Non-European History of Religions, J. Kölbing, Tue 10:15
Lecture: Introduction to the History of Religions and Contemporary Religious History, Tue 16:15
The lecture also includes a tutorial: Introduction to the History of Religions and Contemporary Religious History, Wed 10:15
Study day "Religion and Drugs: Ecstacy and Shamanism" 25.10.2024
How do course registration, module allocation, ADAM, etc. work?
"Online Services" is the electronic system where you manage your studies. On "Online Services" you enrol for the semester, do allocations of courses and can see your earned credits and the assessments of the lecturers.
What is ADAM? When you enroll in a course, you automatically become a member of an associated ADAM workspace. Most courses are linked to ADAM workspaces. ADAM serves as a platform for the exchange of documents - in most cases semester programs, texts, protocols or other materials related to the individual courses.
If you want to scan or print something, you will find all the options here.
And here on the IT page of the University of Basel you can find information about email etc.
Studi-ID? Library card?
In the UNIcard you have your Sstudent IDi, library card, copy card, key and payment in the cafeteria in one.
You can update it at "UNIcard stations" and also load money to the card for the cafeteria or for copying in the libraries.
VPN!
The VPN of the University of Basel allows you to access the university network from home. This also gives you access to the articles and eBooks provided by the university libraries.
With your university logins you also have access to the WLAN eduroam at other universities, not only Basel!
Our Library
The UB Religion is a branch library of the University Library. The collection can (mostly) be borrowed and is located in the beautiful rooms of the Faculty of Theology at Nadelberg 10. Here you can borrow and return books or pick up books ordered by courier.
There are many study desks in the rooms of the UB Religion. On the top floor there is also the opportunity to work together in groups. You can scan your books or print out texts in front of the library entrance.
You can easily apply for 'extended access', which allows you to enter the library early in the morning or in the evening after lectures. There are also lockers on the ground floor of the Faculty of Theology, between the front and rear courtyards. A deposit is required for these, but there are no rental fees!
More information on the website of the UB Religion!
