With this privacy policy, we would like to inform you which data the Faculty of Theology, Department o Religious Studies collects from you as a user of the website religionswissenschaft.unibas.ch, processes, discloses, and for what purpose, and which measures the University of Basel takes to ensure the security of this data. In addition, we inform you about your rights by means of this privacy policy.

Personal data is always processed in compliance with the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Basel-Stadt (IDG) applicable to the University of Basel and, if applicable, the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (DSG).   • to protect vital interests of you or another natural person (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. d DSGVO).

Any consent you have given us for certain services can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. Personal data that has already been accumulated will be deleted if it is no longer required for the purposes for which the data was collected. Instead of deletion, the data will be blocked if there are legal or contractual reasons against deletion.

Cookies are small text files that are transferred from our server or the server of a third party to the user's browser and stored on your terminal device. Through this, we automatically receive certain data such as the IP address, browser used, operating system and your connection to the Internet. The use of cookies increases the user-friendliness and security of the website.   • The form to contact the student association collects questions and requests (content of the communication), name and email adresses.
  • This data is used in the ongoing communication between the student association (Fachgruppe Religionswissenschaft = the elected board and representation of the student body of Religious Studies Basel) and the contacting persons.
  • The board of the student association may share names and adresses with further board members, student assistants and assistants (in their function as stuy guidance) to facilitate respones and communication with the contacting persons.
  • The data is stored on internal servers with no time limit.
  • The form data will be sent by mail to the board of the student association.


The data entered in the form are transmitted in encrypted form. Any forwarding of the data by e-mail to the recipient/the operator of the website will also be sent in encrypted form.

The University of Basel uses technical and organizational security measures to ensure that the data it collects and further processes via the website religionswissenschaft.unibas.ch,

  • remains confidential and is protected from accidental or unlawful access, alteration or disclosure, and from loss or destruction; and
  • access to the data is granted exclusively on a need-to-know basis to those persons who need to access the personal data by virtue of their function and duties.
